Secretary to the District 6 Board of Education, Ms. Amy Lemon,
In accordance with policy KEC-R and before the given deadline of Mar 21, 2023, I am submitting the following appeal regarding the decision on instructional resources; specifically, the book "Beloved" by Toni Morrison.
District 6 Superintendent Deirdre Pilch,
I am writing to appeal the decision to maintain the book "Beloved" by Toni Morrison, in our District 6 K-12 school libraries, as it exposes children to pornography. It is a crime for an adult to provide a child with pornography. It's also morally, ethically and spiritually wrong. It also subjects children to trauma. How does one justify exposing children to non-consensual sexual attacks, bestiality and pedophilia? Especially when one could protect them from it?
If you haven't taken the time to at least read the excerpts of concern, you can have them read to you here, in this 4-minute video.
Here's a small sample:
I want to address a few things in the decision letter regarding the 175 book complaint forms submitted for this one title, as the book review committee has determined that this criminal smut is "educationally suitable".
You, Superintendent Pilch, have chosen to back this decision, even though you have the authority to overrule it. Further, the determination of the committee is that it is suitable for high school students (it isn't), yet recommends the book remain in K-8 schools, available to 11-year-old children, informing parents only after their child has checked out the book. What does that letter home look like? "Hey Mom & Dad, Your kid checked out some porn at school today. They may need therapy now".
And what if a child reads this garbage at school, in their classroom, or in the library without checking it out? Well, parents wouldn't be the wiser, and it's likely that the "school staff" who are "supporting" our children as they process this traumatic experience, are sexual groomers. Why else would they want to give our children porn?
Sexual groomers (perverts) appear to have found a safe haven in public schools, in violation of federal obscenity laws, yet out of public view, ...for the moment. It's important to remember that individuals can still be brought up on charges. And what parent wouldn't press charges against an adult who gave their minor child "sexually exciting" material?
What would possess a Superintendent of Schools to be active/complicit in providing "sexually exciting" material to other people's minor children?
A $327,000 annual income?
$27,250 a month is appealing. I have seen how money has incentivized humans to make less than upright decisions. (www.govsalaries.com) To add insult to injury, the Greeley/Evans community gets to fund your exorbitant income through that 17-year MLO tax - a tax extracted in addition to our regular property taxes.
I have to ask…
Do you feel you are doing right by children?
Do you feel you are doing right by the taxpayer?
Do you feel you are doing right by parents?
Do you feel you’re doing right by our community?
Are you doing right by your soul?
Do you still own your own soul?
Or did you sell it to Satan when our logo took on his mark?
I guess, if there is a silver lining in this travesty, it is that only 30% of our students can read at grade level, as you had to admit to at the Colorado Dept of Education meeting last Oct. It's too bad we're banking on illiteracy to save their minds from pornography.
I implore you to reconsider your decision to continue exposing children to sexually exciting material.

Board of Education President, Pastor Michael Matthews, has ignored the pleas of the community who've elected him to the District 6 school board. He defends porn in schools and when that becomes difficult amidst the growing pushback, the "Kids Hope Coordinator" from his church comes in to help him defend it.
Listen to Kimberly Destree's public comment defending this smut The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison in our schools…
Sometimes people tell us all about themselves. We just have to listen…
